Thanks Elly. Seems strange that they would cite security for not installing Firefox, whilst accepting all the security holes in IE6. But then again I’ve stopped looking for rational behaviour amongst the public sector IT fraternity!

IE6 also predominant in NHS. Local IT (in my experience) refuse to install FireFox. Security reasons usually cited, may be – again only my experience – because often internet restrictions are configured for IE so FireFox can provide a loophole. I had not thought of these cost implications so thanks for a new perspective!

I think we all know it’s ridiculous that government clings to IE6. It’s not clear why either. The arbitrary barnacle behaviour of clinging to a broken boat kinda destroys any hope of future delivery.
